Description
Sourced from the tiny 1.7-acre Lost Vineyard, tucked along the eastern ridge of Napa Valley's Vaca Mountains at 800 feet elevation, this estate-grown Merlot reflects both the character of its hillside site and the precision of Snowden's hands-on farming. Planted in 1994 on well-draining perlite and sandy soils, the vineyard benefited from a near-perfect 2022 growing season, culminating in a carefully timed hand harvest just ahead of a late-summer heatwave. Fermented exclusively with native yeasts and handled with a gentle touch in the cellar, the wine underwent malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels before aging for seven months and being bottled unfined. The 2022 Lost Vineyard Merlot opens with an exuberant bouquet of pomegranate and black plum. Juicy and plush on the palate, it offers supple tannins, fresh energy, and a clean, polished finish. Composed of 97% Merlot and 3% Grenache, it is a wine of balance and generosity—an elegant expression of joy, pleasure, and place. If you’ve been sleeping on Merlot – this wine will bring you back. #SNOWDENFEATURE
