Description
From a mere 0.84-acre estate block on the eastern ridge of Napa Valley's Vaca Mountains comes one of Snowden Vineyards' most distinctive wines. Named for Levi Philander Davis, who homesteaded the property in 1878, this Petit Verdot is sourced from vines planted across multiple generations—1962, 1981, and 2009—growing in rhyolite volcanic sands at 800 feet elevation. The 2022 vintage benefited from an exceptional growing season. Fermented exclusively with native yeasts and aged for 18 months in French oak barrels before being bottled unfined, the wine captures both the power and complexity of this often-overlooked Bordeaux variety. A favorite within the Snowden family, this rare, unblended Petit Verdot is celebrated for its flamboyant character, deep color, and remarkable aromatic range. The wine opens with compelling notes of brambles, cassis, cracked pepper, spice, and savory cured meats. Full-bodied and structured with firm tannins, it offers exceptional versatility at the table while showcasing the depth and influence of one of Bordeaux's most important yet least discussed cultivars. #SNOWDENFEATURE
