Description
Some of the world’s best Sauvignon Blanc comes from France’s Loire Valley, with the regions of Pouilly-Fumé and Sancerre leading in both popularity and price. For me, being more of a TJ Maxx than Saks girl, I tend to hunt for wines from places that are overshadowed by these more glamourous regions. The Cheverny AOC is exactly that, hardly on the radar for most wine drinkers. This is a blend of 85% Sauvignon Blanc and 15% Chardonnay. Steely and flinty, with crisp green apple, lime, a touch of green herb and a ridiculously long finish. This will certainly fulfill my need for something bright and white in my glass, but also will hold my attention from first sip to last. Domaine du Salvard is a small, 5th generation family run estate with organically tended vineyards located on the eastern side of the Loire Valley. Here, brothers Emmanuel and Theirry quietly go about making delicious wines that, once discovered, will make you feel like you’ve been let in on a secret. - Noelle Starr, Wine Consultant
