Description
The Tommasi family has been making Valpolicella wine in the Veneto region for 100 years… now 4th generation. Tradition calls for 3 indigenous grape varieties… Corvina dominates at 60% with Rondinella and Molinara added. Here’s a red wine that offers rich fruit flavors of plum, cherry, and black currant wrapped around a dried spice core of tasty complexity. What I like about Valpolicella is its attractive structure – mild tannin, full body, wide range of bouquet and taste in your glass. A welcome pairing to beef, lamb, or veal dishes. The wine rests for 15 months in Slavonian oak barrels which adds a cedary, smoky note. Drink now or hold for years for some softened maturity. Can take its place with top Italian reds! - Bill McCleary, Surdyk’s Wine Consultant
