Description
The Piedmont region, made famous by its stunning red Barolo, is also home to the village commune of Gavi, and the Cortese grape. For 140 harvests Enrico Serafino winery has made this tasty white wine of Cortese, known simply on the label as Gavi. It has a vivid expression of green apple, white peach, and citrus. I find a light nutty almond packed in along with a mineral stony character. It is crisp and dry… a delight to drink. Cortese was Italy’s first white grape to gain an international reputation with a DOCG status back in 1998. This Grifo del Quartaro bottling will please all who try it. Flinty texture with fresh acidity, a true favorite at my house. -Bill McCleary, Surdyk's Staff
