Description
Nadia Barnard-Langenegger, Waterkloof’s winemaker, works her vines in the cool hills near the Helderberg Nature Reserve in the Western Cape. She uses organic practices and does the heavy work with draught horses to get the most from the land without abusing it. There’s no wish to stop there for her. Nadia ferments with natural yeast and in whole bunches with the Cabernet Franc. When the wine is ready for aging, she uses a minimal amount of new oak, so the wine gets to speak for what it really is. Rich, dark fruit and spices dominate from this wine, reinforced with a bit of grip so that it can hold up to pairing with grilled red meats. - Dale Johnson, Surdyk's Staff
