Verino Distillery was founded in Argos, Greece, in 1978 by Babis Spiliopoulos, who currently runs it with his son, Thanos. The base for Verino’s Mastiha liqueur is the sap of the Mastic tree, which only grows on the island of Chios in Greece. Verdant on the nose with angelica root, green peppercorn, poppyseed, and lemon curd, with a palate that expands upon these flavors alongside pine, aloe, prickly pear, and a lightly confectionary note of lemon poppyseed glaze on fresh vanilla cake.
