Nick Goldschmidt, along with his wife Yolyn, started a family winery in 1998. They make great red wines from single-vineyard grapes. Everything is small production and handcrafted. The resulting wines show class and detail. This Cabernet is one of their best wines – it comes from benchland soil site in Alexander Valley just north of Napa Valley. You’ll find a massive mix of red cherry, blackberry, and plum fruit flavors all nicely layered over secondary notes of roasted coffee, fresh tobacco leaf, and dried field herbs. Classic Cab character! Tannin base is soft, yet the wine has a full-bodied structure. Price here is a real bargain. A natural match for grilled sirloin steak. - Bill McCleary, May 2020
