Description
Aged for 16 months in 15-gallon charred oak barrels and finished in Sauternes wine casks. Sauternes is a sweet and complex white wine from the Bordeaux region of France. Sauternes casks are extremely rare. Prized by nobility, Sauternes gets it complexity from sauvignon blanc and Semillon grapes, many of which have botrytized, meaning they have been “infected” by a fungus called “noble rot”. The effect is delicious. As the grapes dry, an incredible concentration of aromas and flavors emerges…a superb cask for finishing rye whiskey.
