Description
While I'm not always a fan of Minnesota's Spring season (skip to summer!), it does signal the coming of some of my favorite styles of beer. Mainly, Sours and Fruited Ales. Right down the road from us is Pryes Brewery, and the release of their lemon-lime "Main Squeeze" is a sure sign of winter's end. The base is a blonde ale, perfect for show casing the citrus fruit inside. Lemon dominates the palate, with lime and faint grapefruit in the background to mellow it out. Despite the major citrus blast, this beer is definitely not a sour, but rather reminiscent of a shandy or a radler. Just like a shandy, it's low ABV of 4.6% makes this brew totally crushable. Also agreeable is the everyday low price for a 4 pack of 16oz cans! For all these reasons, I keep plenty of this crusher on hand until production ceases in the fall. Stop by, grab some today, and let's get this party started! Bottoms up! - Brian Krause, Local Beer Buyer
