Description
This cult-favorite producer just arrived in Minnesota. Acid freaks rejoice, because these wines are drier than dry. Falkenstein is one of a handful of producers to call out specific bottling batches on the front label, in contrast to the 1971 German Wine Law that combined and homogenized many vineyards. For example, they bottle six different Krettnacher Euchariusberg Kabinett wines. Each comes from a specific part of the vineyard and is aged in a single 1,000L fuder cask, which are so old they've acquired names over the decades of their use. We were able to get a single case of cask 8, named Gisela, which came from 40-80 year old (some ungrafted) old vines, or "Alte Reben." - Peter Plaehn, Wine Buyer
