Description
The Parpette family purchased an abandoned section of the Cote Brune area of Cote Rotie in 1986 and, after clearing and replanting, sold the grapes to Guigal as part of their La Turque bottling. In 1996, a parcel in the lieu dit of Le Plomb was added; Jamet and Rostaing have vines there. Cedric Parpette started making his own wines in 2003, rarely exceeding 500 cases total. He tragically passed away in 2022, but his children Romain and Maxime are now the third generation caring for these special vines. Le Montmain is a lieu dit in the Cote Brune situated on the classic micaschist soils that give the slope its name. The wine is aged for 12 months in 225L barriques with minimal manipulation, fining or filtration. This light touch is in contrast to many of its neighbors and the wine shows a deft elegance typically reserved for the elite of Cote Rotie.
