Description
To transition into my favorite sweater weather, I put this bottle in the chiller for a bit before opening it up and settling onto the patio with my German Shepherd mix, Tobin. What a pleasant surprise! Wilhelm Walch is an Italian winery with a German feel that has been producing beautiful wines for five generations and one hundred and fifty years. Run today by the latest generation of the Walch family, it now focuses on low yields of exceptional quality, bringing a touch of Alpine class and freshness. From the high-altitude vineyards of the Alpine region of Alto Adige, this Pinot Noir is amazingly light and complex, with a fantastic array of flavors. It's a slightly dry Pinot Noir with light body and medium acidity. It has beautiful red fruit notes off the nose that intensify on the palate. There's a little rhubarb note in there, too, for a surprise pop of tartness, which I really enjoyed. It's a super food friendly drinker, but like most of the wines I drink, it really doesn't need food to be enjoyed. Cheers, and say hello to your fur-friends from Tobin and me! - Keri Brown, Surdyk's Consultant
