Description

Vin Vif (pronounced vahn-veef) wines are made with a simple philosophy: to pay tribute to the windswept vineyards of the Central Coast and underappreciated grape varieties. French-born winemaker Xavier Arnaudin (of Union Sacré fame) has spent more than 20 years in the region’s vineyards and cellars and has never lost his love for this hilly, oceanside landscape. Vif in French means energetic and lively, making this Albariño perfect for summer sipping and entertaining. The grapes were hand harvested, gently pressed, fermented, aged, and rested in neutral oak for 6 months. Bright aromas of lemon zest, pear, green apple, herbs, and white pepper segue into deeper notes of orange blossom and apricot. The palate opens with lemon/lime, mineral, and tropical flavors transitioning to peach and apricot stone fruit. The finish is clean and balanced with mouthwatering, refreshing acidity and continues to open up and gain complexity as it loses its chill from the fridge. Great on its own to start the party, however, this wine really shines with all types of seafood, herb forward dishes, and one of my favorites: grilled chicken with chimichurri sauce. - Zach Rouillard #ZACHSBONUSPICK
