What do Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Carménère all have in common (besides making some fabulous red wines)? They all share the same parent variety of Cabernet Franc! A quintessential staple within the Loire Valley, Cab Franc serves as a progenitor to some of our favorite wines. While Cab Franc may be fundamental to the culture of French wine, its reach and impact is experienced around the world. From blends in Bordeaux to outstanding single-varietal wine in Napa, Cabernet Franc is arguably at the foundation of the modern-day wine experience.

Nestled within the heart of the Loire in the Chinon appellation, we find this outstanding bottle eager to be freed from its glass vessel. Sunny raspberries, fresh herbs and rose petal immediately tickle your nose in an aromatic bouquet. I highly recommend letting this breathe for about 10-15 minutes, giving those tannins time to soften before drinking. Your first few sips will be surprisingly complex for a wine of such a reasonable price, but what really brings it home is the beautiful long finish of warm blackberry pie, which is the reason this bottle doesn’t last long! The wine itself is simple yet assertive and would stand up nicely to any roasted poultry dish or hearty stew in the last few days of cold weather! ¡Salud! (118491)
