Chards are prolific, popular, and fun to drink. I have a new one for you to try: L’Agnostique Chardonnay from the south of France. It comes from Capestang, just a few kilometers from the Mediterranean Sea. Well suited soil and climate for growing excellent Chardonnay grapes. I consider this a bistro wine – great value in the glass and an uncomplicated taste. Simple and delicious… not to mention extremely food friendly. L’Agnostique is 100% Chardonnay. The grapes are aged for 6 months on the yeasty lees for rich flavors. The wine then goes on full malolactic fermentation for a smooth polished texture. There are plenty of classic apple and pear fruit notes, yet, it is made without any oak influence, so it retains a crisp, pure, fresh taste.
