Description
The best-known vineyard site of the region – the Heiligenstein – is home to Blauburgunder and Riesling vineyards, which are set on the eastern part of the mountain. Here, a part of the Riesling is grown in the Lyra, which brings especially good yields because of the double leaf wall and the special microclimate. The site is actually one of the the oldest formations in the region. The symbiosis of desert sandstone and volcanic components from the Permian period provides the fertile soil for the vines.
