Description
The Parpette family purchased an abandoned section of the Cote Brune area of Cote Rotie in 1986 and, after clearing and replanting, sold the grapes to Guigal as part of their La Turque bottling. In 1996, a parcel in the lieu dit of Le Plomb was added; Jamet and Rostaing have vines there. Cedric Parpette started making his own wines in 2003, rarely exceeding 500 cases total. He tragically passed away in 2022, but his children Romain and Maxime are now the third generation caring for these special vines. The Bertholon Rouge is best known for flanking the hillside vines of Ogier, on the Cote Rotie side of the river. It's a powerfully elegant wine that out-paces its modest label.
