Many Champagnes are sold on the length of aging in bottle, the age of the vines or the classification of the grapes from the village they come from. Well the Waris-Hubert ‘Armorial’ isn’t in the store for any of those reasons. It’s a young wine, aged only two years in bottle, from comparatively young vines (35 years) of Pinot Noir from a village that is famous for Chardonnay (Avize) and a winery that is practically brand new for Champagne (founded in 1997). The reason it’s in the store is because it’s deliciously drinkable with a moderate dosage (6.2g/l) and easy-going complexity thanks to the Pinot Noir. - Peter Plaehn, Wine Buyer
