Description
This is a delicious Pinot Noir from a great winery in a great region. The Santa Lucia Highlands in western Monterey County is a cool climate growing area that provides for an extended growing season…which happens to be ideal for Pinot Noir grapes. The team at Bernardus hand picks some of the best fruit from select small-farm, highland vineyards. Sorted and vinified in small batches, the Pinot is then aged in French oak barrels. The resulting wine has solid Pinot character. I like the rich plum aromas up front with signature spice notes of cedar wood, clove, and cola. The palate flavors are lively and fresh with black cherry and cranberry fruit expression. A royal garnet color pulls your attention to every sip. Hard to resist. Reminds me of more earthy Oregon Pinot with more fruit-forward flavors. A great price and wine value for delicious California Pinot Noir. Enjoy with your favorite beef stew!
