Since 1710, the Strub family has been crafting family has been crafting exceptional wines in and around the town of Nierstein, considered by many to have the best vineyards in Rheinhassen. Walter Strub and son Sebastian, who studied and worked with Helmut Donnhoff and Kurt Darting, make wines that are terrior-driven with precise minerality. “Soil to Soul” is no exception, blended from different parcels, but all grown on steep slopes of Rotschiefer (Red Slate), a formation created over 280 million years ago, and found only in this part of Germany. The wine displays a lovely boutique of peach blossom and stone fruits laced with minerality. The succulent mouthfeel is perfectly balanced with flavors of ripe peaches and Anjou pears that mingle with crisp acidity and mineral notes leaving you wanting, begging for another sip. Delicious on its own and perfect for the patio season, it’s also a brilliant complement to spicy Thai cuisine and blue cheeses. I recommend buying several bottles… you’ll be amazed how fast the first one goes!
