Baumard Carte Turquoise Cremant

This is the time of year for celebrations to ring in the New Year, and the air is filled with the glorious sound of popping corks as we enjoy the crisp, refreshing taste of lively bubbles. Yes, I am talking about Champagne, the wonderful wines from the tiny region in France, as well as sparkling wines made throughout the world. One sparkling wine that I love to pour for my friends and family is the Carte Turquoise Cremant de Loire. This beautiful wine is from Anjou in the Loire Valley, and was first made in 1957, although the land has been owned by the Baumard family since 1634! They use sustainable farming to carefully nurture the land and grow healthy, flavorful grapes, which for this wine are
60% Chenin Blanc and 40% Cabernet Franc. The wine is then aged on the lees for a minimum of 18 months to develop rich, complex flavors. It shows beautiful, ripe fruits balanced by lively acidity, leaving a fun yet elegant impression. Never too sweet or too dry, I can’t think of a better
wine to serve when the clock strikes twelve.
