Powers Champoux Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon

$30.99

Description

Founded in 1992 by Bill Powers, Powers Winery has been at the forefront of sustainable farming and winemaking, having established the first Certified Organic vineyard in the state. Bill, his son Greg, and Mickey Dunne (who happens to be the uncle of Surdyk’s Catering Manager, Emily Dunne) are passionate about the unique qualities of the single vineyards that help form the heart of their Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine hails from southeast Washington in the Horse Heaven Hills AVA. Champoux Vineyard was planted in 1972 and is currently owned by Paul Champoux and four winery partners: Powers, Andrew Will, Quilceda Creek, and Woodward Canyon. These owners represent some of the most famous and exclusive wines of the Pacific Northwest, and that pedigree is certainly reflected here. The wine was aged for thirty months in 75% new French oak barrels. It is powerful, yet clearly displays restraint and elegance. Perfectly balanced flavors of black fruits, subtle vanilla, and ripe plum indicate the quality of the fruit. Lush dusty tannins are balanced with a nic e touchof oak, with enough acidity to help form a seemingly endless finish. This is stunning Cabernet!
