If you live in our corner of Minneapolis, you’ve certainly noticed how much the Northeast neighborhood has changed in the last few years. While Surdyk’s has been an institution since it first opened its doors (just a block away) in 1934. 85 years later, it’s not just home to charming neighborhoods, state-of-the-art buildings, and fantastic restaurants. “Nordeast” now boasts several distilleries and over a dozen breweries as our neighbors. These are award-winning artisans who are putting this neighborhood on the map as a destination for beer and cocktail enthusiasts.
We’d love for you to get to know some of our favorite neighbors during our Local Sale! April 4th -14th all local product (both in the Liquor Store and Cheese Shop) will be on sale. We have a number of opportunities for you to stop in and sample local items throughout the sale as well. Check out Events Calendar for a full list of tastings…
Here are a few products we are loving and will feature during the sale:
Wander North Distillery
Tasting Sunday, April 7 from 12-3pm
Their Frontier Applejack is out of this world good, and their Outpost Vodka and Waypoint Gin are the perfect base for the classic martini, but what we go wild over is the Unchartered Whiskey – a limited collab bottling that uses the malt bill from Northeast Breweries.
Tasting Thursday, April 4 from 5-8pm
Norseman sets the bar for exotically flavored spirits. Their Pineapple-Chipotle or Strawberry-Rhubarb Gin will get elevate your G+T to new levels. The fun (and serious distilling skill) continues with their cordials and aquavit…not to mention the classic rum, vodka, gin…you get the idea.
Brother Justus Whiskey Company
Tasting Saturday, April 13 from 2-6pm
The original Brother Justus story reads like a boozy Robin Hood. Whiskey distilling began during Prohibition and was a joint effort of Minnesota’s farming and monastery community. The resulting whiskey was world famous and to honor this folk hero his namesake whiskey is on our shelves.
