Spring has Sprung. We think.
If you have called Minnesota home for more than a year you can’t really be surprised by our recent April snow storm. It happened last year…even later than it did this year. But oh, how it hurt. The old adage “once bitten, twice shy” has us tentative about the remainder of April’s weather. Even with today’s thermometer inching towards the 60s, we still are skeptical that spring has really arrived.
So, let’s pick a date that we can feel confident spring will have sprung for good this time.
I nominate Cinco de Mayo.
And what better way to celebrate Mexican-American Culture and the un-official-better-late-than-never start to spring than with a delicious Margarita recipe from our good friends at El Nivel? This one offers the perfect mix of fresh citrus (both lime & grapefruit) to remind us of warmer days as well as a kick of heat that will warm you even if the temps haven’t reached tropical.
El Nivel Spicy Jalapeno Margarita:
Kosher Salt and a lime wedge to rim the glass
2 ½ oz El Nivel Blanco Organic Tequila
1 ½ oz freshly squeezed lime juice
1 ½ oz freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
2 tsp agave nectar
Fresh Jalapeno pepper, sliced thin
Rim the glass with lime and salt. Fill a small cocktail shaker with ice, tequila, lime juice, grapefruit juice and jalapeno slices (to taste). Shake vigorously and strain over ice. Garnish with citrus slices and more jalapeno!
