Description
Blaye is a town located almost directly across the Gironde River from Margaux in France's Bordeaux region. The clay and limestone soils are perfect for growing characterful Merlot grapes. Chateau Haut Colombier starts with a beautiful core of Merlot (90%) with its cool, dark fruit elements and addss 10% Malbec for extra earth and leather flavors. Tasted several months ago, it charmed with its balance. Re-tasting recently, it showed an even more appealing, seamless grace not often found in young Bordeaux. This is a great value and will easily age for 4-6 more years. Pair with classic pot roast.
