As a wine consultant at Surdyk’s, I have seen many trends that have come and gone. But one trend that has enjoyed ever increasing demand over the last 6-8 years is the love for dry
Rose style wines. While beautiful Roses are made in many different wine regions throughout the
world, clearly the region most synonymous with the trend is Provence, a land of rolling green hills bathed in the golden Mediterranean sun in the south of France. One of the newest Provence Roses at Surdyk’s is from Chateau Trians, which dates from the 18th century. The 49 acre estate is certified organic, and is located in the Coteaux Varois en Provence appellation.
The wine is
composed of 40% Grenache, 40% Cinsault, and 20% Syrah, with some of the low yielding vines up to 50 years old. The color is a beautiful bright pink, with aromas of fresh strawberries and floral notes that soar out of the glass and envelope your senses with images of sun and summer. The lush fruit carries over to the palate with the perfect hint of acidity to add brightness to the long finish. SUMMER IN A BOTTLE!! Enjoy Chateau Trians Rose on its own, or with a wide variety of foods such as mixed salads, poultry, and grilled meats. I am confident that you will
love this Rose, so buy accordingly and take your senses on a trip to Provence, where sun is king and summer never ends.
